Smith Productivity Issues

You know what, Im not surprised its a good quality Smith, I have 8 weeks cuttings with over 15 figs on them.

I wish my Preto was half this vigorous on its own roots.
I don't have a Preto, but my CC is pretty good on its own roots. Right now it's in its second season - five scaffolds, about 5-6 fruiting branches per scaffold and already about 5-6 figlets per fruiting branch as of today.

That’s “eye candy” to perfection. It’s torture to look at but still we do anyway. Looking at these pictures makes me really long for April to get here.😒

Sorry if you already shared but what is your fertilizer schedule.. any special amendments to your mix. Very impressive fior second year.bm.
Some Shake N Feed and dolomite lime every 3 months. Liquid organic tomato fertilizer twice in the beginning of the season and after heavy rains. I grow in real soil heavy in plant compost and worm castings.

Looks great, I dont have issues with productivity on BMs, CC or Preto, but they vary in vigor, BM KK is wild, Preto is the least vigorous but does produce heavily, I just wish it was as vigorous as a Smith or I258

Hoping to see White Baca pictures like this in the Fall.

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say that Preto is not vigorous but produces heavily? If it produces heavily, why do you want it to be vigorous? For me, as long as I see 200+ tasty figs from a tree, vigorous or not, it’s hardly relevant. Maybe we attribute different meanings to the word ‘vigorous.’ As a matter of fact, I don’t want a lot of vigour as I grow them in grow tents for months and overly vigorous growth becomes a problem.

Quantity of fruit per linear growth is very high. I get more figs on 4 ft of new growth on a Preto than majority of my figs, very tight nodes spacing compared to other vigorous varieties like Golden Rainbow, White Madeira and many other figs

Gotcha.
