Mhm! Almost everything that has popped, has been nice thick quick growing roots. The one exception has been an MJ Smith. Thick roots, just being slow to spread. It may just be because of the size of the container is hiding them throughout the soil. Not crying over the fallen soldiers this year, as I’m doing better than I expected and I happen to know a group of people with great collections to acquire from later on.
I’m doing way better than last year, but I was using jiffy seed starting mix then. This year peat and perlite. Way easier to get the moisture at least close to right so far.
It can be used, but it’s just harder to get and keep the moisture right. Not saying it was 100% the mixes fault. It’s hard to hydrate once it dries and becomes hydrophobic then in my experience is was pretty much drenched.
