Single node BMKK

Hey guys.
I'm very new to fig growing. I bought a small BMKK rooted cutting. I trimmed a single node from top to experiment rooting it. I wanted to see the roots grow before placing it in soil medium. So I took a small sauce jar. Placed lightly damped napkin at bottom. Used rooting powder. And placed it in jar 10 days ago. I posted one before pic and others from today. Wanted advice to when I should put it in soil

When I use sand propagation, I like to transfer my cuttings to soil when some of roots are about an inch long. I've found I can easily plant those without damaging the roots and allows me to observe its growth longer in the sand.

And be sure to plant with the node that will grow the stem pointing up and hopefully the roots down (I think that is what your photo shows.)

Hope it goes well!

I have the right side up. Dipped the top in wax slightly to hold moisture

Hello guys. Needed some input. I decided to plant the rooted one node cutting in 1:5 water:soil ratio. I placed the small clear pot in ziplock bag. Is putting in ziplock a good idea? Should I keep the bag open or closed. How do I manage fuzzy fungus on cutting if I keep bag closed. Appreciate it

@ktrain Looks like there’s some white mold on the cutting and roots. It’s been awhile for me but was it peroxide and water mix to spayed on it ?

Most of the time if you have mold, you have dead tissue. Because the end was waxed but kept in a humid environment, there is a possibility that portion is starting to rot. I would remove wax and see if you have rot/bark slip on that end. All my single node cuttings are rooted naked.

Thank you.

You want good callusing on the end of the cutting where it is essentially forming scar tissue. Here is a close up of an end of a single node. The other side looks the same. Waxing or parafilm is only needed for the parts of the cutting exposed to regular room air. View attachment 19051
Nice picture.

My single nodes are finally popping through the coir after 24 days. I dug a few up that weren’t showing any progress and both ends were callusing like your picture with roots forming along the edges.
