Recovering from Shock

Do you know the name of the variety?
Nope. They said that the original landowner of their subdivision had a bunch of fig trees. As folks built and moved there they cleared off the lots. The mother tree was the last one left in their neighbors lot and was so big my aunt had to climb it to pick the figs. They took a cutting from that tree 6 years ago and planted it and thats the one they gave me.

alright i've reduced it further and i planted 9 of the thickest cuttings in various spots in my garden. still have a bunch of wood left not sure if i'll do anything with it at this point. they all were still green when scratched so probably should take off as long as i'm not as unlucky with them as i was with my superbowl figs :ROFLMAO:
Plant it all!!

So far no buds on the tree. Still seeing green when I lightly scratch the top of the longest limbs with my fingernail.

Only one of the cuttings has grown a bud so far.

Hoping I see some signs of life here soon lol
It may be a bit.
When I ripped some big trees out of the ground at a friends place, I potted them once home.
It took a couple weeks before seeing any growth...I thought they died.
Give it time. :)

Any idea what these little white things are? I dont remember seeing them before but haven't exactly been looking very close. They are very small

Have you tried any fertilizers?
Fox farms “kanga roots”
It’s designed specifically to:

  • stimulate new root growth
  • increase root branching and root hair development
  • reduce transplant stress
  • improve nutrient uptake
Or if that’s not for you, may I recommend some kelp meal?

They look like thrips, but i have bad eye sight. Lol
If they're not moving maybe not.
Take one and use your phone to zoom in

After looking at them under a microscope I can definitely say what they aren't. But still dont know what they are.

They are not sawdust because when I scrape them off I can see their insides which look like tiny organs.

They dont look anything like mealybugs, fig borers, ambrosia larvae, or thrips. They dont have any discernible body sections like head thorax etc. They are just skinny elongated white things with a tiny bit of red on the end that connects to the bark
