Raspberry Latte

I’m rooting a RL and have read some about it. Does it have a propensity to produce mule figs or is it a one off thing? Is the new wood really rose colored? Also I’ve heard it is a splitter. Are we talking one small rain shower and it’s split city or does it take some actual moisture? Also heard it takes awhile to start producing is that par for the course?

It’s a vigorous grower and production will ramp up in its second year with regular fertility and irrigation. I haven’t noticed any mule figs on my trees and the new foliage can have reddish pink hues. I’m not sure about splitting due to rainfall as I grow under a high tunnel.

This fig was one of my favorites this year (rooted in 2023). Mine is in an 8-gallon pot on irrigation. My tree did have a propensity for mule figs. IMG_7045.jpeg
It seems to benefit from a lot of sun too. I didn’t notice problems with splitting. Look at the nectar at the eye.

Flavor was a very nice berry, though I confess I didn’t necessarily get raspberry.

Ok so there’s a decent chance for mules. Guess I’ll find out later. I read that raspberry comes with caprification. Slightly disappointing, but everything I read says the flavor is on point. The pictures look appetizing for sure!
