Raccoons!

I know raccoons well. Lol I had one for a wild pet for years. He was so smart that he could open the door to the house! He got huge!  I set traps all the time for rats & cats. We got an opossum once. I had to get him out of my fig tree before my dog snatched him since it was a baby. Raccoons & opossum can seriously break branches. I’m always afraid to get a skunk!

Yea Skunks aren't so easy to get out of the traps...lol
You have to sweet talk'em, and pray. :)

@FattyFigs my poor dog Cali had a backyard nemesis who happened to be a real scrapper of a skunk. She lost a couple of fights to the skunk and was totally humiliated about it. Finally she took to just hanging around the skunks entrance and exit hole under the fence to my neighbor's yard where the skunk lived. She just hung around that hole ignoring the skunk for a week or so till she got her perfect moment to snap that skunk's neck when it went under the fence. My dog Cali was resplendent in her victory. Of course she got skunked killing her opponent but she didn't care. She'd won and that was all that mattered to her.

@Lewi was robbed, and sadly I am the culprit who did it. He absolutely recommended the site to me I used his invite to gain access but in my excitement to join you all here I forgot to give Lewi credit. Maybe one of you all powerful moderators, or administrators could give Lewi the credit he deserves for providing the trail of breadcrumbs that led me here.

@Lewi gave you breadcrumbs!...lucky, I didn't get any. :)

You would have tried to eat @Lewi trail of bread crumbs? What's Toronto Joe paying you guys? Must be those High Moderator taxes I keep hearing about.

Raccoons are very smart and it’s both frustrating and entertaining to see how clever they are.
My game camera revealed a racoon releasing itself from a havahart trap!

I think they are really smart aliens...lol

I read somewhere that if you elevate the trap like in these videos, skunks won’t climb in.

@MiaD . You are clearly a raccoon friend. I'm so happy that we have such a kind-hearted, and intelligent member here like yourself. The picture of what looks like your child holding on to his raccoon friend is utterly heartwarming. Not at all like those two Ruffians Toronto Joe, the raccoon trapper, and Ktrain the backyard Eradicator. He's gotten so mad at all defenseless raccoons lately, even though they were living in his backyard long before he ever bought the place. The poor raccoons think it's their backyard.

Sorry for the confusion, that wasn’t my post, I was tagging FattyFigs post to offer a suggestion about keeping skunks out of live-traps. I agree with you, lovely photos.

@"Fattyfigs"#25 I apparently got confused who's wonderful wild raccoon friend post that was. You are a wonderful human being, and a true raccoon friend. I absolutely loved your story, and your picture
Thank you @"MiaD"#88 for clearing up this old man's confusion. I am giving ((Likes all around)) for this heartwarming post.
