Portuguese Unknowns

While it’s unfair to compare anything to the Beast, Unknown #5 is a very strong rooter.
There are literally awesome roots all around the bag.

(Fig popped 12/19/25)

Description of #5:
  • Variety #5: Portuguese Profundo Desconhecido
    • = Complete Unknown, as the owner offered very few details around that tree. This one may be a surprise for anyone who successfully roots it.
    • #5 is said to be a green fig with white pulp (amber pulp?) but the taste profile is unknownIMG_7137.jpegIMG_7136.jpeg

According to my notes, it's supposed to be a vigorous grower. Hopefully, once it starts to root, it will grow like crazy.

Huh, I must have missed that. Can you please share any info you have on it?

All I have is this:

  • Variety #3: DeAngelo’s Rubi Escuro
    • = Dark Ruby
    • Variety #3 was a dark fig with Ruby Red pulp.

#4 seems to be the first winner here, I have 2 reg fig pops with roots. Unknown on the hybrids, they aren’t putting out an leaves yet which is fine.

Not much more than that, except that it's vigorous, best flavor for 2025, most promise, great flavor. I don't remember where I found this information.

The smell doesn’t bother me but my girls and wife can tell every time I fertilize with it in the garden. Worst though all the critters around smell it too 😡
I definitely notice far more critter activity after fertilizing with Fish Fertilizer, but luckily it kind of goes back to normal after about a day or two...
