Opinions please : Recommended persistent Caprifig to hand pollinate ?

whats the difference between DC 2 , 6, 7 ?
I have dc6 and dc2, between them the flavor is similar and coloring is similar but dc2 had about twice the size for fruit compared to dc6. Both were prolific pollen producers and had decent main crop but nothing to write home about. I’m wondering if dc7 will look close also and they could all be male siblings they chose to further test, then saved them as DC series when that property got taken down. I’m betting originally they were just tree 2, tree 6, and tree 7 but the dc came later from the students with college humor lol.

Yes, It has ripened main crop for me. But with out pollen I would not eat it.
Are there any with a halfway decent edible crop without pollination? Would like a double dip variety where I can get a few profichi for pollination and a main for eating.

So Capri Q > UCD Caprifig.
I finally had a almost fully ripe UCD main crop. It was quite good. Problem for me is the main crop so far ripens very late. And in past years did not ripen fully before frost. So for now I would say it is better to get Capri Q. But if UCD starts ripening main crop sooner. I will be changing my mind. Hoping others ripen for me this year. Growing so many of them now. :)

Well, I am getting a cutting soon via a trade so I will just have to put the tree in the greenhouse in the future. How about a head start?

I don't have a green house right now myself. But when I did I would early start Capri to pollinate breba. Early starting UCD should give you the time needed to ripen the main crop. But then again. It may not be late for you. Not many people growing Capri. I can only post what I see here. So keep that in mind. :)

Even in zone 9b, it was late for you? I’m in 7b.
