Not Quite Ripe Desert King

Anybody pick Desert King Figs before they're completely ripe? I have to travel to Flagstaff tomorrow. Several of my Desert King figs are nearly ripe. They are beginning to get soft, drooping slightly at the neck and yellowing out a little. I ate one and it was pretty bland but with a little flavor, so I picked 4 more. Will these ripen in a couple of days? I have done this successfully with other varieties in the past. I don't like to do this but these are for a friend who lives out of town.

Thoughts?

Figs do not continue to ripen off the tree well.
You can put them in the fridge, might help a little.
One thing you can try some people have done is put a piece of tape or oil over the osteol, this traps the gases inside the fig and hastens ripening...or at least it is supposed to.
So if you know you will be gone soon...try it and see what happens.
You may get them before you leave.

Hey, thanks. I took 4 of them with me when I went up to Flagstaff yesterday. I don't think they'll ripe either.

Oh well.

Yeah thats why you dont see them much in stores.
Only a few usually have them and even then probably under ripe.
But they can be frozen and used for jam. 😁
