My New Journey - Green Michurinska

Hi all - here’s my quick story.

I started looking into figs after I bought two fig trees a couple years back. One was the black Mission fig and the other was Violette de Bordeaux. I gave the black mission to a friend and kept the Bordeaux.

After two years in the ground, I thought I was doing something wrong, because my fig tree was barely 5ft tall and small in diameter, and my friends’ tree was 9-10ft tall and 3x the diameter of mine.

I started doing some research and apparently the black mission is a lot more vigorous than the Bordeaux.

Now I want to try a honey fig variety, and want to propagate some cuttings if I get a chance.

After doing some research I found the variety I would really like to plant: Green Michurinska!

I tried searching all over the internet where I can get a cutting to start my tree, but it seems no one is selling or it’s sold out everywhere.

Can any of you share where I can get one of these illusive Green Michurinska cuttings, or rooted trees?!

I have a tree listed now on figbid that is going into its second year of growth.

Comparing most trees to a black mission will make them look small unless they are for sure growers. I don’t have one myself, but if I’ve heard it once I’ve heard it 1,000x. Black Mission gets huge. They are the backyard in a nice climate type of tree. Oh just throwing this out there, but GM isn’t a honey fig. You want something like an UCHD or something along those lines. GM cuttings aren’t too hard to find as several member have posted above. Good luck!

Check back with me in the fall. I'll most likely have Yellow Greek and LSU Gold cuttings to spare.

Just so you know @Egg , Green Michurinska is not a honey fig, it is a berry fig.
A bit on the early side and not real big...kind of a medium size.
I recommend it to everyone though.
Hopefully you can snag some of those cuttings listed on figbid from these fellas above. :)

Thank you all- appreciate the input. When I mentioned honey fig I was trying to imply that it’s the green skin type- looks like that’s not the right terminology!

@FigTreeGen. thank you I send you a message

@DCallahan thank you for putting those up, but it looks like I can get them because I’m in California; per your description: “- **Shipping is available to all states except** CA, HI, and AK.”

@Trustyfarms thank you, but I don’t think I can afford a potted one because it’s 10x the cost of a cutting and I would feel really bad if I killed it!
