Create Your Own Frankenfig at May FigFest!

We’re turning up the excitement this year with a hands-on grafting demonstration and workshop—and an epic raffle with three awesome chances to win!

Here’s what’s up for grabs:
1. The Demo Tree – I’ll be grafting live during the event, and you get to choose two fig varieties that go onto the rootstock. This one-of-a-kind Frankenfig could be yours!
2. Two Hands-On Grafting Experiences – Two lucky winners will get to graft their own fig combos during the workshop using varieties of their choosing—and take the tree home with them! I’ll guide you through the grafting process and share a few essential techniques along the way.

All tools, materials, and safety gear will be provided. The whole experience will be interactive—ask questions, pick up tips, and enjoy the figgy fun.

Fig Varieties Available (depending on scion quality in May):
Iranian Candy, Violet de Bordeaux, Colonel Litman’s Black Cross, Unknown Spain, Peretta, Texas BA1, Stella, Zaffiro, Hollier, Bebiera Preto, Vince #3, Panache, Carillo Unk, Socorro Black, Thermalito, Bourjasotte Gris, Holy Smokes, Excel, Bordisotte Negra, CDD Gris, Rigato del Salento, Smith, Uncle Corkey’s Honey Delight, 505H, Bartroun Red, White Genoa, Nero 600M, Negronne, Atreano, Brooklyn White, LSU Purple, Cardenillo…
(And maybe more—donations of hot new varieties are welcome!)

Want to join the fun?
• Raffle tickets are $3 each or 4 for $10
• Send payment via PayPal or Zelle (details below)
• Comment on this thread with how many tickets you bought
• Your ticket numbers will be posted here based on purchase order
• We’ll do a live drawing on May 15—tune in to see if you won!

Rootstocks Needed: Winners can bring their own, but we’re also asking for 3 donated rootstocks. Plants should be in 1-3 gallon pots and should have last years wood and branches available for grafting. If you can help with rootstocks, please reach out!

Let’s get grafty and make some fig magic happen.
Fig on!

I see May 31st but is DMV in Maryland?
DMV = District (of Columbia), Maryland, Virginia

I'm hoping to make it this year but life seems to always get in the way of figging, especially that which happens during daylight hours on weekends. I've found most of my figging these days happens between the hours of 930-1130 pm.

The neighbors think I'm crazy, most of them are right...

I know mine have seen me out there with a headlight before and crazily moving pots in at the end of season and out at beginning. 🤣😅
