Members,
in the words of Emeril Lagasse, "Let's kick it up a notch". For those of you who love contests, here is my last one (in conjuction with the Community Cuttings Giveaway Program) for the Spring 2026 cutting season. With most members already starting or about to begin their rooting efforts, I hope this one is of interest. Since the cuttings offered in this contest are mostly "leftovers" from Fig Gazer's donations, entry into this contest require posting a family recipe that members feel make great leftovers when served days later.

Cuttings offered include: Yolo Bypass (2), Desert King (2), Sucrette (Wolfskill) quantity 1, CDD Grise (2), 505-H (1), Cherry Cordial (1), Black Aldent UNK (3). In addition, I will include a few fresh cuttings from my own trees. The final number of cuttings to be won will be in the range of 15-17.

Rules:
1) Post your favorite family recipe(s) that yield great leftovers in the Recipe folder
2) Each posted recipe gets the member 1 chance on the Wheelofnames. Maximum of 3 entries per member. Winner to be chosen randomly.
3) Contest is open from the time of this post until 11:59pm, Feb 28th.
4) Winner would agree to reimburse a flat shipping rate of $10

Best of luck to all members who enter.

Not an entry but Matthew McConaughey tuna salad recipe the next day is amazing! I make it all the time and adjust or substitute ingredients with whatever is available.

same here. Plus, I'm taking my best Italian comfort food (meatballs and sauce) and BQQ rub recipe to by grave, unless my daughters prove themselves worthy.
I thought I was Grinchy. 😀

I was hoping for a recipe being posted for meatballs. There is still time.

Not an entry. Chicken Tikka Masala

Ingredients:
Skinless and boneless chicken thighs
1 cup plain yogurt
1 tbs lemon juice
1 tbs minced Ginger
2 tsp cumin
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt

Combine ingredients and marinade for an hour. The original recipe has the chicken cut up and skewered but that is a lot of work. Grill or bake the thighs until done. Before the chicken is done(15 minutes maybe) start the sauce.

1/2 stick of butter (ghee would be perfect)
1 garlic clove minced
1 jalapeño chopped. I add spicier peppers (thai chili) for that extra kick (my son likes it spicy)
2 tsp paprika
2 (8oz) tomato sauce (plain)
1 cup heavy cream
Cilantro and jalapeños for garnish
Basmati rice

Melt the butter in a large pan. Add jalapeño and garlic and cook until fragrant. Spices go in and stir to combine well. Next, Heavy cream and tomato sauce go in. Sauce should be warm but not hot before the cut up chicken thigh pieces are put in. I season to taste at this point with salt but more importantly, adding sugar enhances the dish.

Sprinkle cilantro and possibly more jalapeños on top of the dish.

It doesn’t sound authentic but it comes close to satiating your craving.

Well dang, 2 tsp of cumin goes into the sauce as well.

I might have a few.
Cheesesteak casserole

1 lbs ground beef or ground chicken
8 ounces cream cheese
1 green pepper diced
1/2 yellow onion diced
1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar works too)
1-2 cups of beef stock
Montreal steak seasoning (to taste)
1/2-3/4 box of penne pasta (cooked)

Basically I cook down the onions and peppers with a little bit of the beef stock, add in the ground meat and continue to cook it until brown with the onions and peppers, adding some of the Montreal seasoning, once browned I add about 1/2 cup more of the broth, and then add in the cream cheese, melt it down, add in the cooked pasta. Make sure it is all incorporated, taste to see if it needs more seasoning. Top with shredded cheese. At this point you can serve as is or add it to the over to melt the cheese on top a little .

Slap Yo Momma Chicken
2 chicken breast (split in half)
Slap Yo Mamma Seasoning
1 Diced Bell Pepper
1 cup cooked elbow noodles
4 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup chicken stock

Season chicken breast with Slap Yo Mamma.
Cook chicken in a pan with a bit of oil until it is cooked.
Make some elbow noodles.
Remove chicken from pan, add a bit more oil and cook some diced bell peppers.
Add the chicken stock, cream cheese and more seasoning to taste.
Once the cream cheese is melted add the cooked noodles and chicken back to the pan.
