I was looking over my little first year tree today.  No ripe fruit this year, but quite a few big green fruits developed.  I'm excited for good things off of its next season.  I think its earned a slot in the greenhouse headstart program this coming spring.

@"Figology"#21  What are some of your other finds?

I originally started collecting figs so I could see how FiaTeo compared to the best in the world, so far it's right up there at or near the top, for me anyway.

Some of my notable finds that have been released include HSK Unk., Geno Unk., Sweet & Sour Cherry, St. Chocolate Unk., and Chatsworth Unk..
Thats pretty cool!  I think I read that you named FiaTeo after your children?
I have you Geno UNK growing as well, it's a first-year tree.
Will you have cuttings available of your finds?

I'll have to see about getting some cuttings out in January.

There were are 2 Geno Unknowns, one striped and one purple. I thought they were one variety when I first sent them out since I had a bunch of cuttings with no fruit attached. Both are good but I prefer the purple. Send leaf pics when you can so I can guess which variety you have unless you have fruited already.

Please let me know if you have any cuttings available this winter. Geno UNK, I have not fruited it yet.

That looks like the striped version’s leaves. The purple fig is likely a Smyrna. I found the striped fig to be very similar in appearance to LSU Tiger. I haven’t tasted LSU Tiger but Geno #1 was very good.

I got this one from FigGazer, if that helps with identification.
I also have LSU Tiger, so I'll keep it in mind to compare them.
Thanks

I gave him a couple dozen of tall tree pots to either keep or give away. I don’t think I knew there were two types when I first gave him some. Geno #1 is incredibly productive and it’s one of a few figs that still good when under ripe. Split resistant and so far BFF resistant. I have an in ground tree with no BFF experiments done.

I still have Chatsworth, FiaTeo, HSK, & Strawberry Guava.
The last one has not held figs as of yet.

Thanks for the update. SG is one of a few figs that leaves a sweet coating after eating.
