Iraqi Fig

I’ve been hearing how Iraqi fig has almost a banana flavor sometimes and is very unique. Is anyone growing this variety? Any further information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It is one of the few Palmata type's going around. But I don't have it at this time
to comment on flavor.

HUH?? Bananas are cheap ,good and taste just like banana ! why chase a fig to taste banana flavor ? Think i would chase other figs .

Do you have Izbat An Naj?
The same is said about that one...but I believe it develops after a few yrs.

It is an Egyptian fig, I may try to air layer a branch of mine, but it's getting to those temps around here that air layers don't like. lol
If nothing else, I can get you cuttings come dormancy.

I’ve got a couple Izbat an naj that will be fruiting this year. I’m hoping for the banana flavor. Marylane seedless reminded me of an over ripe banana in texture but not really the banana flavor. I’ve got an Iraqi just rooted and maybe I’ll bring indoors to ripen this winter to see if it’s got a banana flavor.
