Insect Attact

Something is attacking this plant. Does anyone know what it is? I picked the flower and put it in a plastic bag and into the garbage. The plant is a hibiscus . The first pic is what it looked like before the attack.

Those black pellets look like caterpillar droppings to me. But I think you can usually inspect the plant and find them if that was what was causing the damage.

I thought they might be eggs but I will look for a caterpillar.
