I'mReal or fake?

What am I seeing there? It looks like a pineapple growing out of the top of another, larger pineapple
thats how to grow a pineapple! you can do it if you cut off the top of a pineapple and plant it. its why the patented "pink glow" pineapple comes without a top.

My grandma used to do this to all her tops. never got a pineapple though but had some lovely plants! (we live in new york lol, no pineapples grow here).

Sadly I know. Nothing really interesting grows here lol. Cactus and some peaches are pretty much it. I guess apples too, but not real common in this part.

So they just daisy chain off the top in perpetuity? I had no idea... Never seen a pineapple grow before. So you place the top with leaves down and eventually a new stem comes up and (hopefully) shoots out a pineapple?

you put it down just like it grows. pineapple cut part in the dirt, leaves sticking out. and yes forever a new one grows. its clonally grown

They make one pineapple then die, but the plant makes another stem as well

You see the spent stem on the right and the new one on the left?

and you can root the crown and start a new one. That's what I did with store-bought ones

Two crowns I stuck in pots. It was fun, they took 2-3 years.

I’ve seen online though the pink pineapple has seeds inside that can be germinated.
