I have a problem.

So to start off I already have more trees and a wider spectrum of varieties than I ever planned to have. I’m already having to get more medium and pots. Welp I keep catching myself thinking about cuttings next year, before I smack myself back to reality lol. Anyone else have this problem?

Me too... I started this season with about thirty young trees in the containers, and now I both hope and fear that I may end up with over 50 by next winter. Which means more pots, more soil, and most importantly, more space and fig shuffling in and out of garage come spring and winter.

The second problem that i'm facing now is that some of my 2nd year trees are beginning to wake up and pushing leaves and figlets, because of that long cold spell we had, which necessitated that I bring my fig trees into the basement, where it was warmer. So now my living room is turning into greenhouse, wth cuttings, up potted cuttings, and 5-7 gallon one year trees sitting on every surface that is getting light.

Good Lord, what have I done?!?!??!

BTW: my husband is a Saint - as all of your spouses! 🥰😍

My livingroom was looking crowded as well. Yesterday I bit the bullet and moved them outside to the covered porch since one tree thinks it’s go time and the others had major bud swell.

I am right there with you. October I had around 15 trees. Went way too hard on cuttings and I am in the triple digits. Lots of duplicates and will hopefully slim it down to 50 or so by next fall so that I can do it all over again, but maybe try to have some more self control.
Everyone I know will have a fig tree lol.

You have been an inspiration to me, @bushdoctor82 , ever since posted about several trees you have and your resistance to suggestabiliy 😀

Im hoping to try all these varieties, determine which i like best, and settle to about 25-30 trees.
Me, too - trying all these 161 cuttings (13 are for the Portuguese trial) to see what works best here/tastes best to me/my family. Not sure how many I will finally end up with as there are still so many I still want…

And as those 25-30 trees get heavier and heavier every winter and spring you’ll be re evaluating further till you have 1-2 favorites. 🤣😂🤣😂

Oh boy. I started with I think six and quit counting. I think I’m getting close to 50 😅. I’m a sucker for gifts and so many of them have been well known good varieties so I have to at least give them a try 😂.

I am glad someone posted about this insanity! I’m just starting out … never tasted a fig yet I know In my Gut it’s going to be amazing.
I Started with 2 plants ( that didn’t ripen fruit this summer- first year) and now I counted at least 70 cuttings going!!!Thanks to many generous cutting gifts from members and also some purchases… I think I may have to get a greenhouse this fall and figure that out as I go. Duplicates should they survive will be gifted To family and friends… and my school. Yet I am thinking 🤔 about how fun this summer is going to be!
