I used this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09V79P4Z3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title the grafting tape that came with the knife. I just use it because it's cheap and already came with what I needed. It surprisingly was good enough for my apples and pears I cleft grafted. The tape is still on it and the grafts took so I may remove it later in the year.

Why? Because I bought a roll years ago and haven’t really put a dent in it. I’d love to try buddy tape but I can’t justify buying it while I have this. It works well though.

If actually grafting and I’m not covering a bud, good electrical tape helps keep it tight! Of course that needs to come off later

I used a rubber vulcanizing tape this year. Seems 3M brand is popular.

Then parafilm over the rubber band seems like solid approach

I've used those and I've used regular rubber bands about that thickness too and just cut them and used those the same.

That’s what I do. Regular 1/4” wide rubber bands and cut them.

I use parafilm for wrapping cuttings and for grafting. My usage is about 1 roll per two years, so I purchase the two-roll packs on Amazon. The vendors are often overseas so the widths are metric. The size I prefer is 3 cm (1.18 inch).

For grafting, I wrap on an additional piece of 3M 2242 electrical tape for structural support. It only encompasses the immediate area of the graft, whereas the parafilm extends multiple inches in both directions.
