Grafting knife recommendations

Yes, thicker grafts, I have done a few fat and ugly (albeit succesfull cleft grafts) up to 1.3 inch diameter. I also prefer the grafting knife with hard wood like pomegranate. With small prunus or green avocado scions, I prefer the utility knife. I am starting to test my skills with whip and tongue, but not on anything important
 
IN the end the knife you practice with the most will work for you ,but starting with a non folding ,sharp ,non bending,non snaping blade,with a flat side apropriate to your left or right hand favorite use .IS THE ONE YOU SHOULD INVEST ALL THAT PRACTICE IN .IN MY OPINION .

I used many different knives at first and I can graft just fine with a utility knife. But once I got a fixed blade grafting knife I never looked back.
 
I just picked up a Tina 683 today. Single bevel for right handed grafter. My friend is going to forge me a double bevel similar shape knife for when i want to cut through tougher bark. And then I ordered a 6mm Japanese chisel to function as a bark lifter but also to graft directly into larger trunks (for pear scions I have)

The 683 felt better in my hand than the 685 - and the shape of the blade makes more sense to me too

I got one of these from a guy on etsy he makes them they are excellent and super sharp an affordable. Make sure to get the correct bevel and flat side for left and right handed. They are opposite on Kiridashi grafting knives compared to other grafting knives. If using your right hand an if you pull towards you to graft you need the left hand bevel.
