First Leaf!

I always enjoy the first leaf and here it is—I don’t know if it’s the honey fig or if it’s the UNK Mt Etna, it’s one or the other. Last year I was doing something and broke two branches off by accident, they were small and tiny and for what ever reason I just stuck them in the ground and ironically they both lived while the others got hit by the dreaded voles.

Sounds like a street gang from the NYC 5 Points 1850 to 1900 era

That happened to me once, I bent down next to my yellow long neck to pick up something and I accidentally hit one of the branches and it broke off. So I stuck it in the ground and it rooted. I dug it up to plant it in another spot and it died. Que sera sera. 🤷‍♀️

Dang, I never thought to try and root a broken scaffold. I did the same thing recently and just chalked it up to a lost soldier, guess I need to slow down more.

Thanks for sharing…

It gets better, after I stuck the broken branch in the ground I later stepped on it, and broke that one in half and it still took off. I'm surprised they lved through the winter, they were so small all I did was throw some straw over them and they took no damage, go figure. I'll wrap a tree and it dies to the ground lol.

The less attention they get the better they seem to do.
