Sorry, I’ve not done that method, since I dislike using treepots. I’m not quite sure what you mean by easier to deal with? Compared to fig cups or fig pops?@JC Figgy, have you done the modified treepot method? I know it’s expensive initially but I find it much easier to deal with after leaves and roots develop. At a certain point the peat becomes hydrophobic that overwatering isn’t an issue at all.
Unless the roots have outgrown the treepot I can wait longer to up pot to a larger container.Sorry, I’ve not done that method, since I dislike using treepots. I’m not quite sure what you mean by easier to deal with? Compared to fig cups or fig pops?
Order placed in 3/20. They are supposed to be arriving today.I hope that is not the case cuz I need more treepots as well.
If I had the room, I would do the treepot pop for everything. I try to time it so I can up-pot fig pops into the treepots in time to harden them off/shuffle them in the spring. Because the treepots are more space efficient, I can cram a bunch into totes to carry them in and out. I’ve kept them in a treepot for year.Unless the roots have outgrown the treepot I can wait longer to up pot to a larger container.
I’ve noticed with the more growth, I don’t have to worry about overwatering because the peat moss becomes a tad hydrophobic.
I see. once I get to 1G nursery pots and they are acclimated outside I don’t worry too much about them easier.Unless the roots have outgrown the treepot I can wait longer to up pot to a larger container.

@JC Figgy. When you go from figpop to the 1 gallon do you plant them with out disturbing the root ball or do you try to loosen things up and spread the roots? Wonder if spreading the roots might prevent root circling.
I don’t mess with the roots at this point. They can still be fragile and break off.@JC Figgy When you go from figpop to the 1 gallon do you plant them with out disturbing the root ball or do you try to loosen things up and spread the roots? Wonder if spreading the roots might prevent root circling.
Worms are good in pots…. Fig pops probably not so good for the worm lol.I did the fig pops outside, and I don’t know how I did this but there’s an earthworm in the Proscuitto unk.
That's what I was thinking, maybe not enough oxygen depending how long the pop goes--I was able to grab the guy and put him in the garden, now of course there's going to be a shovel hazard lolWorms are good in pots…. Fig pops probably not so good for the worm lol.
How do you get them so close with the foliage??A couple of office binder clips makes 4 or 8 tree pots impossible to knock over Once connected.
Looking good. Shouldn’t need any water this early on. It’s when they start popping leaves they get dry quicker or 4-5 weeks. Whichever comes first. My first visible root, it’s on a Croze. The Unk Prosciutto had a leaf forming in the pop so I had to cut a little hole in the bag.
They started, 3/31/26
Do I water these fig pops or just let the condensation do its thing? I look at them and they don’t seem dry.
i uppot or water (depending how the roots look) once i dont see any condensation on the bag personally. its been working. like not even up at the topMy first visible root, it’s on a Croze. The Unk Prosciutto had a leaf forming in the pop so I had to cut a little hole in the bag.
