Couple of those BFFs are huge..
Sam do you root in straight Coco coir.
Do the gophers mess with the fruit at all.
I add some random soil (whatever is convient, a pot, a shovel of dirt etc) to the choir and mix it up. I add timed release fertilizer after the leaves start to show. I am not good with water consistency. this has worked well for me for the last couple years.

Ground squirrels mess with my fruit. Gophers mess with the roots and trunks..

Very cool! I recently asked for a beach recommendation in Cali as I have never been to cali and he recommended Pismo! I spent a moment or two trying to remember that name a few days ago...

When I do the trip eventually I'll make a point to visit. If I get my huge settlement from the government agency and the bureau too maybe I'll possibly be interested to rent a room - just a matter of proving things...and overcoming some terrorism ... I'll need a special peaceful place to write a book at in the best case scenario

She looks like paradise even the working bits look like fun happy passionate times. Great job on the art too!

The Central Coast is a mellow, nice place. the weather is rarely to extreme. Ussually it is boring mid - high 60's. go in land a few miles and the temps increase significantly.

I love the Central Coast! You're in a nice location for sure. I used to own 20 acres between Lake Naciemento and Lake San Antonio, outside of Paso Robles. There was a few old, giant Fig trees and an old adobe structure on the property next to mine. Sadly, I sold the property just before it started to turn into the miniature Napa and Sonoma wine region.

Bummer on timing, Paso went crazy for the last 10 years! More heat up there so better for figs..

@Frankenberry I agree with
@ktrain /Kevin. I first read about Figlandia in a OurFigs Forum thread. It's just amazing to see how much progress you've made over the last year. So sorry to hear about the loss of your Santa Claus Lane fig. I have always wanted a Santa Claus Lane, so sorry you lost yours. I suppose you realize every tree every shrub probably needs a gopher cage to protect the roots. In Sunland California at my cousins two and a half acre Orchard this is the case. The ground squirrels, and the Gophers will kill anything planted without a cage. We make our own with chicken wire, and they're a pretty big size.

Had to dig up the caprifig and put it in a cage as well.

Cherry cordial has been ok so far... It may be its Palmata genes making it less desirable to gophers.
What a cool looking avatar picture, I love it 😃
