I remember that commercial well, one of our members used to have that as an avatar.

I've heard that they use Black Mission figs in those newtons. Is this true? I wonder where they are grown. I am guessing the San Joaquin valley CA.

I thought Kadota is a honey fig. They’re a yellow color aren’t they? Newtons are dark like mission figs.

Apple pie filling is darker than granny smith apples.
All depends what you add to them. I just looked it up to be sure.

I wouldn’t have guessed that. I was thinking I had heard mission fig as well. Thanks for the info.

Ok you’re right. Kadota was the original fig used in the filling but now it’s a blend of 3 different figs. Black Mission, Calimyra and Adriatic figs.

Now and days you never know what your getting. I am surprised they still have real fig in them.
And not fig flavoring.
