Exquisito Always Good

I'm always looking forward to enjoying an Exquisito fig. This particular fig came from a very young plant in a 6" pot. I must say Exquisito is pretty split resistant because the 6" pot is on my irrigation system and still no splitting. The flavor was very good as well and not washed out with lots of honey inside. Exquisito came in just about 49g in weight.

In my battle with the squirrels I used two clam shells as protection. I attached the first clam shell below the fruit as a buffer zone and then the second clam shell on the fruit.

I am also practicing how to post and add pictures as well.

I harvested my first Exquisito this year from a very productive 2yo tree and was surprised at how good it was. Top tier for sure for me in my relatively short season!

Very nice to hear. It is a very nice fig with some size to it.

Nice looking Exquisito. The breba is supposed to be decent as well.

Breba is a nice treat as well. I should leave a branch or two unpruned this fall.

I’ve enjoyed my first Exquisitos from 2-yr old trees this season. Some of my first fruit have been disappointing, but the Exquisito has been nice and sweet.

I'm glad Exquisito is doing well and should improve with age.

Not fair! You got to enjoy such a tasty looking morsel!

Mine spoiled this year - might be a combination of being immature AND being heat sensitive but not as sensitive as Black Zadar is for me out here.

Thats unfortunate. I know Exquisito loves the heat since its a seedling from California. I wonder if the spoilage is related to something else.

I am lucky in one way at my location,  I don't get much spoilage.

I really like this one, sometimes I think it should be in a flavor catagory of its own.
I don't have another variety like this in flavor.

Exquisito. This is a variety that I have been wishing to add to my home Orchard. Unfortunately I missed my chance to get it from Doug it's finder. Still winter is coming and with the dormancy, and Hope Springs Eternal. Congratulations to all who successfully grew this tasty variety. All the pictures were showstoppers and photogenically delicious. I managed to practice five star rating for this thread. I'm happy to say I was successful.

Maybe you can add a wishlist to your signature.

That is an excellent suggestion TinyFish. I'm just figuring the site out. Today is the first day I actually got to write some posts. It always makes me happy to write 10, or even 20 words when one would have worked just as well. LOL I suppose it's time for me to put wish list up.

@"Tinyfish"#6 @"Figocean"#13 . I was just looking back to a couple weeks ago when Exquisto was being discussed in a thread. As far as I know @"TorontoJoe"#1 Joe has the best phenotype of this variety maybe he could post a few pictures for us?

I had some last night. I feel it benefits from more hang time on the tree. An excellent fig for me and super productive. Definitely a unique, fruity flavour. I really enjoy them

@Tinyfish Are you able to keep the clamshells on in direct sunlight? I wondered if it would get too hot.

I don't think it would get too hot in this area at this time of year....

.... and now you have me thinking.... that might make a pretty good wasp barrier.... hmmm .....

Not too hot at all. By the time you cut the slots top and bottom to fit the clam shell on the branch that helps heat to escape.

Unfortunately the clam shells don't provide any protection for fruit at my place. The rodents I think looks for the shells to direct them to figs that are more ripe.
