Es Torrente

I've been growing it for about 18 months, but the tree was very slow to grow last year, and was weak. This year it has wanted to grow very well, and still wants to keep going, so I'm keeping her happy. No fruit yet though, but after reading some more reports this year about it, I'm very excited for it.

I should have taken some pictures of the Carlina Negra when it had all the leaves. It was spectacular. The most beautiful thick serrated spade leaves, mathematical structure to the growth pattern of the leaves. Very unique among the figs I've seen in my collection.
 
Mine has been slow to grow too, but did put on some growth toward the end of the season. Mine is only 8 months old and I rooted a cutting earlier this year. I have both Es Torrente and Carlina Nagra, and I will have to compare them. Both are the same age, and I’ll see how they grow next year.
 
Wow I like those, don't think I've seen any quite like that.

Double plus if the fig is really good.

I sprayed sulfur with a blower on all my trees at least 10 different times during the growing season. Seemed to work very well. I bought a 200x microscope to look for mites didn't see any towards the end of the season. I will do the same next year and probably each year just to be safe.

I used a leaf blower with a manual sprayer tank attached to it. It blows huge amounts of sulfur water mist. Very fast and easy to do lots of plants.

Did you purchase your leaf blower / sprayer as an attachment or MacGuyer it? Whatever the case, it has proven to be an effective method.

I was also reminded that in some areas the way the word "foliage" is pronounced in a very fun way... "Foilage".... "folage"    :D
 
The little plastic sprayer nozzles on the mist pro are on the weaker side. I got the 7 nozzle version. I broke at least 4 of them due to my negligence.  The product still works fine. :) it's just gushing liquid from the nozzle area but the blower still atomizes the liquid very effectively. 

 A person could build one of these very easily if saving money was important.  I think you could just use a manual sprayer tank with an extra long hose attached to the end of the wand, and maybe something at the end of the hose to break up the stream of liquid a little.
 
I have a 3 year old Es Torrente tree that has really come into it's own this year with very good growth and production. First year was slow, last year was better but not great, okay growth and a few figs. (The pics are from last year's figs and I could have left them to hand a couple more days). This year's figs were very good. Size was in the 50 - 60g range and were very tasty.  I just harvested a late ripening fig yesterday that was superb. This is a really good variety for me.
