Playing around and enjoying the last of 2025: got some fig and other tree cuttings horizontally in sand (not pictured), some single node scrap experiments, but playhouse is getting crowded.

Nice, what kind of plants are those in the starter tray
Some duplicates of favorite peppers for this year - Aji Ricos, Pimiento Lago Agrios, Aji Cristals, Ubatubas, Challeanos, Rain Forests, and plain old Red Bells

I looked some of those peppers, I've seen some of them just didn't recognize the names nice, I like to grow a couple things different every year in the garden, usually hot peppers. I've tried some of the ones from baker creek, there's also a farm in CT here that specializes in hot peppers and tomatoes and sells a bunch of different cultivars, as starter plants but they sell out super quick.

Wow, I've never even heard of half of those peppers, are they hot/sweet?
I love fresh peppers, picked some yesterday!

I've all but stopped growing the superhots - the hottest one I keep these days is 7 Pot Yellow. I started out growing everything to see what we liked and now I've got it down to a few varieties with several plants each. The ajis are perfect for me, a little zip and a lot of flavor and seeds easily removed. The Ricos are simply outstanding. The ubatubas are quite tasty and just so neat hanging! Sugar Rush Peach is in the arsenal and I keep ~6 of those along with 5 or so Datils.

The pimientos are just sweet/no heat and very prolific, but smaller and a short hang time. It has replaced the bells since they are subject to more bugs with a longer hang. I'm up to about 10 of those, they are fantastic.

I also grow a couple varieties for the chickens that are fun to snack on occasionally: chiltepins and konas.

I save seeds if you'd like any.

It took a spell but I air layered my first camelia!
How long did you leave the air layer in place? I have a bunch of smaller branches on my camellia that I’ve marked to prune off in the Spring, but maybe I’ll make air layers if not too difficult.

My first and only attempt so far - did it in mid May and will definitely do them earlier next year. I'd honestly stopped checking weekly for signs of roots and figured it had calloused over. I was 'cleaning up' yesterday (so over 7 months later) and it had great roots when I cut the pod zipties. We also have some cuttings started inside - we're in the experimental phase! I think last count, we have ~35 varieties and are transitioning to a different property over the next year or so. We are interested to figure out the best way to propogate them and some other things!

I think we'll try more propagation, after they've flowered.
