Damaged fig tree

Morning! Yesterday morning a young fig tree from cutting was cut off by a weedeater. I found it this morning. It was about 12” tall and leafing out, now 4 1/2” without leaves. I wrapped the top with parafilm. Is there anything else that can be done to help save it? Put into shade? Or just wait to see if it survives?

Trim off the broken section to the next node. Place the tree in shade for a couple of weeks and she should start pushing out green buds.

How unfortunate! I agree with @JMF75 that the tree should pull through. You may want to be more careful about too much water until the new shoots with leaves form. Without leaves, the tree doesn't need as much water and the roots can rot if given too much.
