Correlation, or not?

Is there a correlation between figs that fruit easily with lots of water having better rain resistance while ripening?

Ive noticed some figs fruit easily and prolific with lots of watering. Most of the varieties in my collection dont.

I don’t think a correlation exists.

In my experience, full sun and adequate water and nutrients make for a healthy and productive tree. From what I have read, rain resistance primarily comes from fig shape and humidity at time of ripening.

Most of mine don't either.
One fig that has always done well in the rain for me is Green Mich.
My inground Green Michurinska had alot of figs split during a rainy couple weeks last summer. Verdolino, Black Celeste and Moro de Caneva where fairly split resistant during the same time frame.

Some figs like Cherry C need plenty of water to ripen.
But as with all figs. To much at on time will split them.
Seems even the splitters wont split as much if they get
an even amount of water over time. It is the drastic change
that they can not handle. See this in citrus as well.
Dry to flooded equals split fruit.

I had luck with those mentioned too, GM was in a pot.
It is now had it's first full year in the ground so I will see what happens this year with splitting.
Has not done it so far and kept it's flavor despite the rains.
