Cherry Plum

Anyone growing Cherry plums (Prunus Cerasifera)? Would like to know more about this fruit. Is it self fertile? Seems to be hardy for colder zones.
Tasted some fruit that was really good.
Dark skin with a sweet, mildly acidic flavor and nice snap when bitten into, very juicy red pulp that was sweet with a bit of tanginess. Size of a large cherry. My understanding is they are plums and no relation to cherries besides the size.
Are these usually grafted or can be propegated with cuttings? TIA for any info.

well cherries are also prunus, so theyre related to cherries in some way. I had a flowering purple leafed cherry plum in my bakcyard but it had terrible black knot and was also planted under the foundation so I gave it the chop. You should be able to grow it own root since myroblan plum is a standard rootstock for plums generally (another name for cherry plum.

Adara myroblan plum is uniquely compatible with a LOT of prunus, so if you wanted to do a crazy multigraft tree you could start with adara
