Cherry Cordial

The 3 yrs I had it I never got to try one, they dropped every year.
I know I should have waited but I ditched it.
No time for droppers...lol
Too many varieties that don't do this for yrs I want to try.
Hope it does better for you. :)

I hate hearing this. Cherry Cordial was a variety I wanted but I don't want it dropping.
It's a known dropper...but at some point people say it may hold...I didn't want to waste anymore time and space.
I should have though....if you don't mind waiting, go ahead and give it a go.
For me it seemed a more sensitive variety for in pot, might have been better in ground.

I had Cherry Cordial on my wishlist. I heard Pastiliere is similar with dropping figs. Do you have Pastiliere Kevin? If so, how did it do for you?

I already have Pastiliere and am willing to wait, so I might as well get Cherry Cordial as well.

Pastiliere is a really good variety, (raintree) version is what I have.
Love the color and flavor.
It fruited well and held first year so you shouldn't have any issues with that one.
If you're talking about Unk version it is smyrna and needs pollinated.

I have the smyrna version of Pastiliere and I have to say that to me it is worth it to pollinate this one to get at these awesome figs. I probably wouldn't say that about many varieties, but this is a really good one!

One of these days I may have to try this.
Maybe when I slow down my trials of common varieties and have room for a few smyrnas...I've seen pics, It looks amazing!

I think whenever you get around to it, you will be very happy you did. I think it is a great variety (definitely one of my favorites) and well worth the effort. And it is fun to play around pollinating common figs too You'll figure out which ones are much better pollinated, which ones are maybe marginally better when pollinated and you'll also find that some don't benefit at all. Its fun! And then, if you want to you can play around with the seeds and grow some of your own seedlings...although then you really do start going down a completely different rabbit hole if you aren't careful! :p

I've got a pretty big GxY (Yanonali) and a pretty big St Anthony's Caprifig if you want me to bring you one (or both) to the Frolic! I have extras of both.:D

I had a fantastic fruit set on my Cherry Cordial trees, but they are also dropping off a few everyday. When dormancy comes i will root prune and add back a different potting soil then my regular mix, something that retains more water.
Last season I did a soil test that I posted with my local Facebook group. 3 soil recipes with 4 different varieties. Cherry Cordial was 1 of the 4 varieties. Cherry cordial as a first year rooted cutting did the best in the heaviest recipe 50 percent Miricle Gro Potting Mix and 50 percent Miricle Gro garden soil.

I did some hand pollinating a couple years ago, Smith was one I remember well, it was very good!
About half the ones I did seemed like they didn't take but the other half did.
I used pollen that was sent to me from Cali.
Had a Saleeb but accidentally left it out during winter...got a GxY from you and I have a nice Capri Q.
Not doing any this year bit next year I may do it again.
It was fun though. :)
