Blackberries

Well, nurseries here still delliver them. I got my last two vareities in June IIRC. I would definitely advise getting them this year, as there will be no harvest this year, and very little next year, and the following year you will get a cup or two from one bush... then more and more the following years... It's painful to wait

I have gone out and got myself 6 honeyberries and 2 black raspberries! Wish me luck!

These should do well; mine have been very resilient and unproblematic. One of the haskaps I got came to me all tiny, scrawny, and chewed up by some bugs, but it survived just fine... didn't grow much in the first year.... a little the following year... but the way, I looked it up, I ordered it and another variety on June 12, 2024, and planted about a week later. This year, it's a 2.5-foot-tall, about 2.5-foot-wide bush. Lots of new growth already, and more will be put on... all this will be producing fruit next year. My other haskaps, for comparison, came to me bigger and bushier, and were noticeably larger two years later.

P.S. I was watering my fig trees in front of the house the other day, when two ladies came up asking me about what kind of trees those were. Some 15 minutes into a conversation, one was already asking me about good nurseries where to get raspberries, haskaps, and other berries. I love it when people get excited about gardening and start growing their own food.

And yes, it is so rewarding to see people tasting your fruit, realizing the difference between the store-bought (their eyes and faces, when they realize that " tomato can taste like THAT?!!!?")... And I especially enjoy when i see kids getting bitten by the growing bug

I stand corrected. While checking on my garden this morning, I noticed several of my plants budding very nicely - black caps, logan and boysenberry and honey queen. My purple raspberries, which I am most familiar with, are still not showing any sign of budding.
