Not sure of the variety. I don’t have any issues with fruit flies. The blackberries are done fruiting by August and SWD typically doesn’t show up here until mid to late August.
I was lucky enough to finally get to taste some Ponca berries this summer. They are simply amazing. Super sweet! I have PrimeArk Freedom and Columbia Giant right now, but I may try to find some space for Ponca.
Planting some berries is definitely on my list for next season. A friend in Hamilton is growing Saskatoon berries... I don't know much about them but I understand they're pretty good
This is the perfect post for me right now. For years I've only grown Triple Crown Thornless, but have been looking to add another thornless variety. We're hoping to move in the Spring, and all 80 something potted fruits I have will go in the ground, maybe...lol, so I wanted a head start, to buy and plant another blackberry in a pot through the winter.
I have being thinking about adding blackberries and strawberries to my yard. I am waiting to see which ones, thorn or thornless. After that I will decide on vast variety. Thank you all for the suggestions.
