Black Mission tree on its own schedule

Hi, I’m in zone 6B and have 2 potted Black Mission fig trees (among others) that I bring for dormancy in early November. Very early this year, one of the trees produced fruit that disappeared when very small. In late July the leaves died and dropped, but new leaves sprouted and are reaching full size. Meanwhile the other trees are close to losing all their leaves. Any idea what’s going on here?

My trees didn’t lose their leaves midsummer but they(and all other fruits in my garden) didn’t decide to produce til September(ish). Some were first year trees but some were just way late.

Are these trees in pots? How long do you have them? And where were they placed? Did you move them during the season?

Yes, they’re in pots and I’ve had them for 5 years. They started bearing fruit this year. In March I moved them from my garage where they were dormant to their current locations where they get approximately 8 hours of full sun. No other moves.

Two possible reasons I can think of: 1) watering or water shortage. It only takes a day or two underwater to make some trees drop the young fruits. 2) transition to sun too quickly. The fruits get sunburn and eventually dropped.

Both happened to me before.
