Big Tree Thread

Post up all of your big trees. I’ll post some from around my neighborhood that I know of. There’s 2 big Celeste trees at a Baklava shop by my house, I’ll get pics next time I’m over there. There’s 3 other trees (that I know of) also within walking distance to my house. I can see maybe 1-2 feet of them over the brick wall. I’m always looking out for fig trees in my travels for work lol.

Then yall have heard me talk about the big one my dad has, and the two other big ones. Just thought it’d be cool to start a thread of big trees.

I only know of one place around here that has large fig trees but I only visit about once a year.
You would think being the deep south that I would see some trees around while driving, but I have lived here for 11 yrs now and never see a single one.
If I visit a friend of mine where I get blueberries I'll snatch a pic or two of his trees...some big ones. :)

Seems we’re in the same boat. Been here in Virginia 5 yrs and not seen one even though people tell me that there are. They must all be in people’s back yards where they’re not seen from the road.

You know I lived in Indiana most of my life, traveled the eastern United States a lot and never seen a pawpaw tree...they are native here. Lol
Maybe I just don't look enough. 😅

First pic is the one that I can see more of, fairly certain it’s a Celeste. The second pic is either one or two it’s hard to tell. But I’m leaning towards two since the leaves on the left are fairly light, and the right is a good bit darker. Can’t really tell what either are.

This is 2 trees I started from cuttings around 2003. The Arctic Blast from January was very damaging to both of them plus my other in ground trees.

This is the big tree with the big yellow figs by my dad’s house. I should’ve gotten out of the car for a better pic. It’s probably about 15 feet tall and wide.

There’s also what the guy thinks is a black mission about the same side behind it. You can kind of see that one poking out on the right of the photo. I’ll get better pics next time I’m up there.

He gave my dad cuttings over the winter, and I now have one of them. So maybe one day I’ll get a fig to show you all.

Here’s another guys tree, the left one, that’s been planted for about 2 years now. Looking pretty good this year. Never talked to this guy/gal about it. Seems to be happy though.

Amazing Fig Trees @Wisner I am in awe of your Horticultural abilities. I have a picture, or two to share, but your lovely trees planted by your own hands, are just to big an act to follow. Thank you for sharing them with us. I can only hope your home Orchard makes a full recovery this summer.

Thanks. It is nice to be able to share our fig growing experiences with other people who enjoy raising figs.
