Hi fam

I've got a fair number of messages asking for Beat Ramon MP cuttings. A friend of mine in Oregon has put up a few cuttings on Figbid - they're fixed price and spendy, but his tree is the real deal so if you're interested, go for it.

Eric observed that this one is similar or synonym with Joualle Noire for him. That one is much cheaper now. I’m wondering if Chris has JN to compare with BR.
Just to be clear that I don’t have BR, but do like JN quite a lot.

From my knowledge, he hasn't compared it to JN yet. I'm growing both and hope to compare them next year.
JN is number two in my not yet mature group of figs. It has a lot of potential. What I got this year weren’t even caprified. It’s that good!

Yea but fruitnut says they are not the same. You got 2 people saying something different that are both trusted.
I think you have to go back and find out who had their source material before the variety got popular to see a solid comparison. I think there is a better likelihood of the varieties being compared to be true before one of them is overvalued.

Im not assuming anyone is right or wrong but heres my observation, the original post that says they are the same has picture comparisons, a guy on fb posts beat ramon, monserrat pons always likes his posts of BR, im assuming by him liking the post hes confirming its BR. The pictures in original thread and the fb pictures pons likes are the same fig as the joualle noire he posted. He then confirmed a year later they were the same again the following year. I have joualle noire, and added beat ramon at a price knowing they may be the same. Worst that comes to it i have 2 great figs of the same thing. 🤷‍♂️

I didn’t see anything about fruitnut saying that they are different. The only person I saw mentioned that he thought that they are different for him was Chris. He said that JN wouldn’t fruit for him and that the petiole wasn’t red. My JN petiole color is red. I think that’s not conclusive that they are different. Eric grew them in both California and Tennessee for many many years and they are the same for him 🤷
it doesn’t really matter to me since I don’t have BR and not planning to get one anytime soon.
