Bears Black?

That's what the label said on both pots. As you can see the leaves are very different. All the other pots label Bears Black looked like the one on the right. No others looked like the one on the left. That one has spade and almost spade leaves. All are serrated. Well I bought the one on the left. $13.98 not bad price and very healthy tree whatever kind it is. My husband is putting it in the ground as I type this. Tomorrow I'll post that. Looks like it's going to pour anytime now.IMG_20250608_131627059_HDR.jpgIMG_20250608_132628285_HDR.jpg

I don't have it. But if my memory is correct. It is the same or close to the same as VDB.
Which looks more like the one on the left.
You know it’s really funny I didn’t go to Lowe’s to get a fig tree, actually I wasn’t going to Lowe’s at all I was going to Walmart to get Zerowater filters replacements but lowes shares the big parking lot with Walmart. Where I enter is the Lowe’s side first. I remembered I need tomato trellises so I stopped in just for that only LOL until I had to walk past those darn fig trees to get to the trellises. I can see now that my addiction is as deep as every one else here.🤪

I stopped and looked at the ones at Home Depot today. It's hard not to. :)

That's the same one I got from Lowes. It's from a tree farm in Florida. I got both VdB and Beer's Black. Both extremely vigorous but only the VdB has figs so far.

I believe you have a VdB. I bought Beers Black last year from Lowes. The first two pics are of it. The last two are one of my VdB.

They will have both types of leaves. I think when the tree is mature, it will no longer have those spade leaves.

Only the VdB has figs but both trees are super vigorous. They are first year trees. If yours doesn't have fruit this year, next year I predict that it will be a fig factory. Here is a pic of the VdB figs and it looked just like yours a few months ago when I bought it.

I would recommend not putting it in a really big pot yet. I would put it in a 3 or 4 gallon for now. I put the VdB in a 4 gallon and the Beer's Black in a 7 gallon and only the VdB is growing figs. I am not saying that the pot sized is the reason, I don't know exactly why. Could be BB variety is slower to produce but I read somewhere about fig trees being slower to produce when put in a really big pot.

I looked back at your op. I don't know what that fig on the right is. The leaves don't look like VdB/Beer's Black. I would have only bought the one on the left. To me it looks true to type even with the spade leaves.

Look back at post #4 my husband planted it inground.

That’s why I picked it also. I knew BB and VDB did not have leaves like that one also.

Lowes gets those plants from more than one source. The reason that I said yours is the same as mine and it's from a tree farm in Florida is because of the pot that it's in. If you look closely at the tag, pot, or sticker on the pot, it should say Dewar Nurseries on it somewhere. The Lowes here also had Little Miss Figgy and it was from a different source and I didn't buy that one.
