Some very healthy Figo Preto, Madeira Island Black, and Rigato del Salento!

I got a Madeira Island Black from Phil last year. It grew CRAZY well and was delicious! I got 11 figs off of my first year twig! So don't pull off the figs thinking they won't ripen on the first year.

speaking of, janet's unk was like. almost fuzzy? Was it sprayed with kaolin clay and that caused it or is this just the morphology of this tree?

Last season I got a Desert King from Phil with a denotation " Mitsu" does that come from the same program/area/grower?

I wouldnt be surprised Kurume figs arent that new, just seem to be new in the US

NO kurume figs ,"MITSU" DK is a very productive and taste version of DK that a old friend of mine (MITSU) DURING HIS MANY YEARS AS JAPANISE GARDINER got from a old italian lady client .

No ,sounds like mold ? maybe you should cheak closer and disinfect if it,s mold ?

No not mold, very healthy. The bark itself is just textured in a way thats like. Rough and almost like velvety. Not like any other fig ive touched so I was just curious if this is representative of the tree or if its some sort of treatment you do to your figs.

NOT A TREATMENT as a lot of the unk. around here are seedlings with palmata genes that typicaly have pubesent (fuzzy) bark i see a lot of this .Although i think JANET'S UNK . might be a heritage tree ,as it looks to be planted on purpose not below palm tree,power lines or in hedge,creek etc.
