1st Strawberry Verte

Most of the figs fruit in the first year. When it doesn't fruit in the second year, I assume I miss something. I have a few of these I need to fix. Quality wise, some take a few years to climb up the curve. Some can get there even in the first year.

I have Strawberry Verte trees that are just over one year old but have no figs. Should I be disappointed or am I too optimistic and when can I expect to see these?

How is it growing? Is it large for it's age with a lot of green growth, or is it small and sickly? If it's not growing well, it may have some issues that you need to fix so that next year it will be healthy and productive. If its growing well and large for it's age, I would have pinched it earlier this season. It's also still pretty young so you may expect better things next year. I have five 2nd year trees. Three of them produced 10-20 figs on each tree this season. The other two trees only have 2 unripe figs each on them now. But those two trees have issues. I think one of them has FMV really bad, and the other one might be a tissue culture.

It has quite a bit of new growth. I pinched it around the middle of June but still no sign of any figs.

I've only pinched two trees. Beer's Black did nothing for a month, then it formed one figlet and a little bit of new green growth. The other one i pinched was I-258 and it instantly formed figlets all over it. It seems that individual trees react differently to pinching. I'm new at growing figs but maybe if you have been giving it a high nitrogen fertilizer, you could try switching to something with more phosphorus. It is still a young tree, maybe next year it will produce.
