Calcium pellets

I use oyster flakes in my soil anyone have opinions on that I've used it for years in my outside garden now using in containers recently

Nothing wrong with Oyster products. Probably good for condition soil longer term. If you do need calcium quickly, I think it takes some time to break down. Oysters are Calcium Carbonate. Good stuff but takes a long time to break down and become available to plants. If you know your plants need it in the short term due to a deficiency, Calcium Nitrate is pretty easy to find. It's water soluble and available to the plants to uptake. I know my water is very shy on calcium so I do use this in my drip system. That said, it is synthetic if that's important to you.... If you build good soil over time with good amendments like oyster, shellfish, gypsum etc, you probably don't need it. But if you're starting with a fresh bag of potting mix and none is in your water.... it's something to consider.

It's a lot cheaper in giant bags but a little goes a long way.

I recommend you do not apply this as a supplement to figs.

Until now I've mostly used it on my nightshades and it seems to have helped there. Blossom end rot seems to have disappeared

I was under the understanding that in small doses it won't lower PH enough to cause any issues. Is there a better way to deliver available calcium?
