I'm trying sandrooting with a few cuttings and theyre rooting in just a couple of days, how large do i lt the roots get before i move it to a pot. any advice on making their transition better?

So transition as slowly as you can. You’ll probably have to humidity dome then slowly open up the dome as days go by to slowly introduce it. Luckily we’re coming out of winter and you can probably get better humidity outside in the shade than in the house.

Roots in a couple of days is impressive, care to share your technique?

Most of the videos on Youtube show roots that are 1-3" long before potting but I only let the roots grow maybe 1/2"-1" so I don't break them in the repotting process and the roots don't get used to the sand environment. I feel like once the cutting has established any roots, then there is no real benefit to leaving it in the sand any longer and added risk of damaging the roots the longer they stay in the sand. This process has worked for me at least.

I pot them when I see roots around 1/2" long for the longest. If I was in Canada, I'd pot them when the longest root hit 13mm.

They will take off quickly. My last two I put in 12" tall tree pots and planted them vertically with the end node of the cutting flush with the potting soil. This was 8 days ago. (BTW, I spritzed them with water before this pic was taken.)

Tonight I planted another and put the cutting slightly below the soil. I feel confident that it will come up just fine.

Nice! Are you going to leave it horizontal when potting up?

I did that once (because accidentally I rooted the cutting upside down). It actually turned out better because rooting across the whole cutting I was able to snip it into a separate tree for each node that sent up a shoot…. Once it was very established of course
