What is a good potting soil?

Right about 3 hrs. Would be worth it to me if I could con the old lady into the trip and I had a truck lol.

I’d be curious what they’d charge for a yard in bulk. I don’t have a truck myself but I got a hitch a while back. If you have a local U-Haul, a trailer is pretty cheap for a day. Food for thought anyway seems a shame to have that giant perlite producer so close but still so far.

Do you know the volume of your car? You could just pump it in the windows

Lmao yea might be worth the wife murdering me over at 55-60$usd for 4c ft when shipping. Next time I root prune or up pot in a couple years I may have to do that. I didn’t know we had a place in Noble. Didn’t know it’d cost me that much to get bulk perlite around here til now either though 😭

According to their website they’re the biggest producer in North America.

I don't know if it's the same local to you but despite having prime, with some things on Amazon, the shipping isn't really "free"

This place is in town. Even if I were to get it delivered it's less than free shipping for me with Amazon.

It the usual deal. As soon as you take something of reasonably low value and stick it in a bag.... the cost is suddenly 50x

I thought I was getting screwed with $40 for 8 day (really 5-6) halfway across the country. $64 and it’s in town is highway robbery!

I get more worked up about things like shipping gouging than any pricy haute couture cutting. That's just me....
I try not to get too worked up over shipping. It's a marvel that I can summon basically anything to my front door in days. Factor in drivers' wages, fuel, insurance, vehicle maintenance, and logistics, and it's a wonder anything can be shipped for less than $50.

I would agree for the most part. Joe’s example is insane imo though.

I am going to up pot my fig pot pops in peat and Calcined clay 60/40 with admendments this year. Anybody else use that combo? I can get the calcined clay(Saftysorb) for around $8 per 33lb bag at Tractor supply. I am saving whats left of my large 4cu #3 perlite for rooting cuttings in the future.

The fig jam actually mentioned this as a possible mix. Not sure if it came out yesterday or today, but I seen it this morning.

Oh just one thing to watch out for. When I was shopping I looked at one placed that advertised 4cu ft for a price, but looking at the actual details it was 3 cu ft. Just a heads up.
