Yall I started my tomatoes and peppers late this year so I would not have to deal with them getting too big or up potting like I had last year. Well, this year I decided I would fertilize after the first true leaves formed!! Welllllll….. I need to get these in the ground! Only one night in the upper 40s in forecast. I think it is time for tomatoes.

I was looking at that last photo thinking, "man, those are some good-looking pepper--OOH! ANGELITO! RDB! SOCORRO BLACK!...."

I'm hurting bad for some real tomatoes. I got some dwarfs in the window that are putting fruit on already so I can get some early... but there's nothing like ripe tomato season. At my house, that period between when the last ripe tomato is picked and the first tomato of the year are pretty much "dark ages"

I saw first flowers yesterday on a determinate I planted in a pot. A first for me. I mixed fertilizer in with the soil

I didnt realize one appeared to be open...

Im behind on tomatoes too but too early to put them out technically... the soil is probably warm enough but im wanting to keep them above 60F or high 50s this year

I have about 50 more seedlings under lights getting big too, just a few i popped into tree pots to be ahead ...

I think ill put another group into tree pots today

**I went out and looked and saw a little flower formation on 'Independence day"... I want to cross these two and get an early ripening yellow/red streak tomato

I now have soccoro black, burj grise and violet sapor come to find out they may be all the same. Grise looks like it's going to fruit this year others are too small. @MyFigStix you look familiar 😉
My Socorro Black is doing well! In fact I think I got two to take. I do not have the others you mentioned. Keep me posted as to whether they are all the same! Will save me a cutting or two! Lol! And welcome to Fig Fanatics!!🎉🎊

I am trying to avoid up potting! Lol!! I was so excited last season I started about 4 weeks too early and in too small of trays. I had to up pot twice! This year I am trying not to do that again! I only see 2 nights in the mid 40s coming so I think I am going to start as soon as those nights pass this week! It’s go time!!

My wife and I have been complaining about store bought tomatoes all winter too! We are excited to get some home grown!! I love me some dwarf tomatoes!! Loxton Lass is my favorite! Large yellow sweet but still has that tomato punch!! Soooo good!!

@MyFigStix thank you! Will do, I've started some tomatoes 3 weeks ago, upotted once from the cells to separate them out already. Biggest mistake was starting cucumbers and melon now they are trying to spread out of the grow box and we still got some time to go, I think I will end up planting them out by end of March.

Gah...I have started nothing, might be just a fig year...and some squash. lol
I haven’t started anything either. Here soon I’m going to direct seed some cantaloupe, honeydew, zucchini and some straight 8 cucumbers. Probably all I’ll do this year unless I get some okra seeds to make the kiddos happy.

Yep, direct planting was my plan for this year.
Not sure what all I'll do...but a friend of mine starts lots of stuff, if nothing else I'll get some from him.
