Very true!!!! I need to either root more cuttings in pops or find a better storage. It drives me crazy that the pops fall over all the time!! 🤣😂🤣😂

I have not noticed a definitive correlation either way. What I do is determined by what pots I have, how much potting medium I have on hand, and how much room I have. I have also rooted cuttings directly in a 27 gal SIP. Zero up pot, labor, or transplant shock, because it essentially is the “forever” home.

There is a 3rd camp. People just root and plant their cuttings directly in ground, especially in spring have reported great results. Their "containers" are far bigger than pots of any size.

yes the reason i moved all my fig pops to 4x14 is to a) ship eventually if necessary b) they started doing poorly in a fig pop and needed somehwere to live and get watered and I dont have room in my house for 100 5 gallon pots which will be their end home if theyre staying with me c) develop those longer root systems. at least that was my logic

You can put them in 6pack beer bottle holders. Can’t take credit for that, saw it on a rksfigs video on Youtube.

Used to be $189 delivered for 300 4x9 tree pots lol.

Yeah, I thought about adding an Italian reference but that stick it to the ground practice is actually fairly common in lots of other fig growing areas for a very long time. My guess is it has to work somehow in addition to the 2 you mentioned.
 
I always liked the fast food large drink containers. I did 2 cuttings yesterday in large Taco Bell containers and other food containers for my seed starters.
