Figboss.com - Information reorganized

I've been enjoying Figboss.com lately reading up on variety reviews and how Ross has organized the site with varieties grouped for specific growing traits and conditions. I find Ross' work to very interesting as his climate is virtually the same as mine. He is two states away but it's only about an hour drive away.
Anyone else been checking the site out?

The amount of ads that I have to scroll through on my phone is painful enough to not want to view the data. Perhaps viewing on a computer is easier?

I like FigBoss as well.
You do know that the members in Texas are having a good laugh about this post, right? Two states away…one hour drive….

I purchased a few trees from him during his tree sale back in November. I enjoy his videos, but his website is a bit clunky. It's much better now than it was before the site update, but still clunky. It was pretty much unnavigable on the phone. Even on a computer, 1/3 of the page was a sticky header that didn't scroll when you did. He did fix that recently. There is the occasional forced popup you have to manually click to resume navigating. I do use an ad blocker, so the ads aren't that bad with that. I like the new fig directory. If I plan on using it for a bit, I open the directory into its own tab so I don't have all the other website template in the way. You can get directly to the directory via https://www-figboss-com.filesusr.com/html/fc9992_ec299e9e996f932db5773be0cd691737.html

i like his posts, but sometimes he calls things synonyms that I feel like are definitely not synonyms and i see it in his variety lists. To the extent i wonder if he is using the word a different way than I understand what a synonym means. he seems to think a similar variety or family of figs = synonym. But synonyms are the SAME

he lives in a similarish climate so i like his reviews on taste (though hes very anti english brown turkey, too much so, who doesnt like a peach)

I am a big Ross supporter. I think he has good intentions and obviously puts a huge amount of work into his website and does far better a job than I could do.

I like the new version of his website better, not just the flow, but the rewritten content, too.

He lives less than an hour from me, so his experience on varieties and how they do under his growing conditions is incredibly helpful for me, both geographically and as a fig newbie. 😊

Ross is got alot of good content but his site is completely loaded with way too many adds. He’d probably get more hits if his mobile site worked better. I bet if they did a study on how long some stays on a page before they leave, I bet it’s not long the majority of the time, less than 5 seconds.

Probably a function on how much it costs to run..but not sure

I had added a few varieties on his list on my wish list.

I agree with you on his use of Synonym, but I also think it's his opinion. In general I think synonym is way over used in the community. There are better words to describe the likeness of varieties.

Agreed. Synonym would 100% imply there is no distinction between the varieties not that they may just be in the same family.

Its a good reference point for when you are wanting to trial different varieties.
