Rapid Root Growth

These two cuttings really surprised me. When I put them in the cups 7 days ago they only had a few 1/2-in long root whiskers. They were stuck in a layer of sand upside down as an experiment.

Originally stuck them in right side up at the end of November. They've been in my basement with no heat and range between 62 and 65°F.

I moved them to a heat mat in a spare bedroom and they've been about 75°F since.

The quickness of the growth both above and below the soil line really surprised me.

Just from my limited experience a heating mat makes a world of difference than being in the 60's. Cuttings that were sitting for weeks suddenly rooted and showed extremely quick growth.
