What roots look like growing out of a node

I posted a pic earlier and just noticed something interesting - it shows what roots look like growing out of the green stalk!

So cool how many roots can come shooting out of one tiny spot! In my mind, I previously always thought it was just one or two roots coming out of each spot, not a fire hydrant’s worth!

Oh wow. I noticed that earlier. I thought they were boring into it. When I first saw them I thought they were offshoots of the thicker root to the right.
I had to look at that a few times, too, since I wasn’t sure at first, and I still could be wrong, since i didn’t realize it until I had already up potted it, but I think because the number of roots and because the hardening off usually starts at the source, while the tips are usually pretty light. Could be though.

Dang. I was going to make a post about my latest root growth, but not now... :ROFLMAO:

No, please do make your post. I would feel horrible if I made you or anyone feel that way. I would rather stop making any posts if that’s how anyone feels.

I have posted about my worst failures, too, since we all have bad ones along with the good ones.

I love talking about figs - my figs, anyone’s, and everyone’s figs, how great they are doing, what can we do to improve, how to combat pests, it’s all good and helps us all! 😊

Trace the terminals that look like they are originating at the new growth to the right. They are laterals that have managed to terminate in the same space.

Sounds odd but I get a real kick out of these... when we do fig pops, one of my favorite observations are the terminal groupings in the corners of the bags. They just happen to make clearing the bags from the pops frustrating (clingy).

I love looking at the roots, too, and seeing how they grow!

Tip:
When the corners and bottoms of the fig pop bags are jammed packed with roots, I’ll find a different spot on the bag that doesn’t have a lot of roots and start my cutting there. Then I kind of stretch out the bag as I go, so that I can get some space so I can fit the scissors between the bag and the roots without nicking the roots.

I try to intersect the seam of the bag and then pry... sometimes works... sometimes not. ;)

Ooops, I was just joking. Actually, your pics give me a goal to shoot for. "Someday I'm going to grow roots like Doc Fig Pop..." ;)
