This is the same or very similar to Palermo Red. I think it’s rather cold tolerant but -15F is not regular cold. This is just my opinion but I don’t think any fig can handle that temperature in-ground without some kind of microclimate helps. The only way that you can figure it out is to try itAny one has Red Sicilian? The description says it survived -15F in Michigan. I am so tempted but I have resisted so far!
also survive does this mean the roots lived?> or does it mean it didnt have die back. i could see roots living if its just one night maybe...This is the same or very similar to Palermo Red. Yeah, -15 is rough even for the roots. If it’s really well mulched I think it can handle minus temperature but not sure about minus teensalso survive does this mean the roots lived?> or does it mean it didnt have die back. i could see roots living if its just one night maybe...
@TorontoJoe , do you have Red Sicilian? Thought I saw it in some old posts. If you do or did, wondering how it did in your climate? How do the fruits taste?Any one has Red Sicilian? The description says it survived -15F in Michigan. I am so tempted but I have resisted so far!

I might trial in my zone with my style of winter protection and see how it does if I have space next year.

I had a surprised dried fig I found on this one and his year. It was one of my favorites I ate. I love finding ones that dried and I didn’t know about.
I think we also have it inground.
I have a couple of fig pops going with this one. Probably have a few more cuttings as well if you got anything to trade.Any one has Red Sicilian? The description says it survived -15F in Michigan. I am so tempted but I have resisted so far!
FWIW ... Beltrana back in stock at OTBP https://offthebeatenpathnursery.com/collections/fig-tree-cuttings/products/beltranaIt’s funny that Big Bill had Beltrana cuttings for sale since December and it was still available yesterday. After Beltrana was sold out at Harvey’s website, it’s no longer available from Big Bill today. Lots of people must be interested in it now.
What did you get?Got mine yesterday...almost time to start rooting.![]()
