Help suggest new varieties for us to add to the Figaholics collection

@Figaholics A newbie 3rd-year fig grower here (but a fully unhinged fig researcher - picture hair sticking straight up, thick glasses, and way too many browser tabs open).

Here’s my fig-crazed take on what might be fun additions to your already legendary collection. All based on endless obssesive research - Grain of salt included.

1. The current “hype train” figs
(High FigBid prices or some available only for private sales, lots of buzz - some will be classics, some might pull a Thermalito… time will tell)

Made me laugh when I read about the browser tabs. For awhile I had two laptops going at once. Both with way to many tabs open. Now I stick with one laptop and 9 or 10 tabs open at a time. :)

seems Vince 3 produces more figs easily and ripens quicker. Also Vince 3 has a softer skin which I prefer. It has great flavor but it’s not overwhelming if you know what I mean. You could eat a lot of these in a single setting.

Green goblin is really good but I would compare it to a smaller Blanche de Duex saison which also has those strong strawberry flavors. It’s definitely a keeper but I would just like to hear if someone has both bdds and green goblin and can confirm my thought process.

No GG, only BDDS. BDDS is my best Adriatic for now.
 
I was especially impressed with Norella. It is a standout. The guy that gifted me the cutting i think was GuyA lol described it as being his workhorse.... it was way up there in my favorites and I didnt even fert most of my trees this past year

I have a very good impression from Giovanna Black... I had one not as developed but those will probably be the something like an early Black Madeira

And for the unique category I would say Corio Provence - it really is something like a 'buttery' taste and I had mine early to beat the frost

I would look into other reviews and not rely on mine i did not try hard at all this past year with plants in general as I was very distracted... I have alot of rootbound fig trees to work on

ill add honorable mention to Boysenberry Blush. I didnt check the list to see if its on there.. I dont remember a fig this year but it was a very impressive first fig
 
I would definitely stick with varieties that have been proven to be unique over the past few years. Stay away from figs that could have synonyms.
Some California seedlings would be good to add like Green Goblin, Boysenberry Blush, Santa Claus Lane. So many new varieties every year to weed through to find out if they are unique or renamed like Campaniere.
Others that are unique and have done well for me but I don't know how long the market will last are Israeli Black, Ondata and Brocalet. Some persistent caprifigs might be good to add with more people doing pollination.

We have bdds and green goblin. Our green goblin( came from Padsfan the original
Mother tree) produced very large figs. It’s only year one so the flavor we hope gets better. And it produces on every node easily. Our bdds has been a shy producer but the fig is better. LSU Strawberyy though would be our choice if we had to pick one right now.
 
Wondering why Castel Trosino-Mario’s 48 doesn’t get more attention. Beautiful, spade leaf tree. Figs at every node, mostly doubles. Fruits early and non-stop, flesh changeable-rich amber or red. Good-sized fruit, tasty, short hang, honey seals the eye, and she’s pretty. Would like to see it caprified.

My cutting had fruits forming shortly after waking, only my azores dark has done that. I think more people do have it now otbp i think maybe it was on harveys too

I have a cutting from Kremp. I heard lots of good things about it. Hopefully, it will fruit for me this year. Yes, I think Harvey has it now. He also has Cessac. I already pulled off several brebas from my Cessac cutting and it has double bumps on every node of new growth now. Crazy!
