Please help with my fig cutting

got a couple of new leaves come through on this plant AGAIN. i can't believe how hardy this fig is! i think i have killed all the bugs (possibly false spider mites, i never did find out for sure) but i will spray a few more times over the next few weeks. i have cleaned my room from top to bottom, unfortunately harming a few of my cacti in the process, but they will bounce back, or i will eat them :)

thank you again goodfriendmike! i would have overlooked those tiny critters if it wasn't for you ❤️

it is looking good for the future though. i can't wait to show you guys the full sized tree when it gets there :)

Can’t wait to see the tree and the figs it produces for you. :)

Spider mites happen when conditions are too dry, like the plant is dehydrated. Or, they happen when there is tissue damage, like from changing weather. It can also happen from imbalanced nutrients. Sometimes excess chloride is associated with mites, so fertilizer salt buildup can cause it.

Make sure you are watering enough, add calcium and trace minerals, and make sure the potting mix isn’t retaining fertilizer salts.

I’m sure it will turn into a beautiful tree. 🙂

i didn't have much luck combining a phone camera with a microscope, but i did get to get up close and personal with a few of my new friends.
every website seems to talk primarily about spider mites and all the mites look basically the same, so IDing them is proving difficult.
i just sprayed a bunch of 70% IPA on the plant to see what would happen. i checked back 15 minutes later and found a few mites that were not moving, so i'm guessing that got them.
i also saw an egg so not sure if that will still hatch or what, but i will spray it every few days and hope that i don't kill it. i can always get another cutting if i need to.

it's odd that they seemed to respond to the plant being watered. maybe it was a coincidence, but they didn't seem to attack until the plant was watered, then the plant started to curl within a day or two.

Perhaps because spider mites like dry environments not humid ones.

I just read your post, and we said the same thing, lol. Humidity is such a balance with indoor figs it appears.

Are you the one who posted the video about mites? I fell asleep watching it so alittle fuzzy lol.
