Alaskan fish fertilizer

Just need to know how long can you keep it till it’s gone bad? Mind you it always smells like it’s gone bad. 🤢. I have a gallon size I found in the shed still half full but there’s no best if used by date anywhere on the bottle which makes me think it stays good.

Yeah, I agree storage is key. I store it indoors as it is live. It doesn't smell good but it doesn't smell terrible either compared to some that were stored outdoors. I remember one of the manufacturers' key contribution is to make it smell less bad.

Alaska is fermented so in theory should last for a very long time.... It is stinky for sure. I can't imagine a DIY fish smoothie 🤢

I should have recorded the whole thing. I did put the fish guts, body & head in the blender before putting the whole thing outside in a bucket.

Tip: Fish guts are quite elastic and can tangle up the blender blades, which makes cleaning very, very messy. And I almost blew the motor on that blender. Fish should be chopped up before going into the blender. :ROFLMAO:

Yea i have had some for the last 5 years, just about out.
Stuff is so expensive, a lady i know gave me 3 or 4 gallons years ago.

If you insist on doing this, a meat grinder with a fine plate might be a little less... um.... gut-tanglifying

I think it was the swim bladder that was unusually tough, which caught the blades. I read DIY fish fertilizer is better than the commercial ones because you can add the whole fish in or the best parts of the fish in to boost the nutrients instead of the wasted parts. And I added sesame oil to try to neutralize the smell., which didn't work. :ROFLMAO:

I don’t know what it would take to neutralize that smell…. If you figure it out please let me know 🙂

If you or you know someone who like fishing, then you probably have a surplus of fish or fish parts at some point. Give it a shot if your yard is big enough. Smell wise, it is not much worse than JADAM. I am testing ways to hold back the JADAM smell.
